Four 4th grade WHA students won a nationwide writing contest in 2019 for their book on Cincinnati icon Marian Spencer. The award ceremony took place at the National Youth Foundation in Philadelphia and this Foundation - Friends of Winton Hills Academy -sponsored the trip.
None of the four girls had flown before, so preparing for the trip included showing them videos about flying for the first time. Flying was an amazing experience for the girls. The “4th Grade Girls Club” ladies made care packages for the girls to take on the plane. While in Philadelphia, they saw and toured Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, ran up the art museum steps like Rocky, etc., etc. After receiving their award at a ceremony, the girls became “celebrities” featured on national and local news channels, and newspapers.
This video was created as a Thank You to the Friends of WHA Foundation for making the memorable trip possible.
