In the fall of 2017, four fourth grade Winton Hills Academy students began writing a book for the National Youth Foundation contest theme “Anti-Bullying”. The students decided to write a book from the bully’s perspective, to give insight into why someone bullies others. The book follows the life of Micah, a boy who has suffered many loses and hardships in life. He discovers that he isn’t the only one and is not alone, and begins to build friendships with those who he had bullied.
A couple of months after the contest submission, the four Winton Hills Academy students were surprised at a school wide assembly by Bengals football player Carlos Dunlap, who called the four students to the stage to receive their award for their book!!! They had won the contest!!
This was an incredible moment of pride for our students, staff and parents!!! Great work students Michael, JaMya, Bryshae, and Zoey!!!! The FOWHAF made copies of the hard cover book that were provided to individuals, other schools and organizations.
If you would like a copy of the book contact Joe Wilmers.
